Canada Wins Gold! WJC 2015
Tic. Tac. Tao.
It wasn’t quite that easy. Never is. After the Russians scored 3 in 3 minutes to make it 5-4, TSN’s Gord Miller said to Ray Ferraro, “We’ve seen this before, Ray. Buffalo 2011…….” and we all thought back to the collapses we’ve recently witnessed. Even Tretiak was looking smug. But Canada weathered the storm at the beginning of the 3rd and…. then, it’s over, and now we know who these kids are. Not just the McDavid’s, Domi’s and Reinhart’s, but kids like Point, Paul, Crouse, Hicketts, Gauthier, Heatherington…..
Too good to forget about. Let the hangover continue for a bit with these clips.
Watch the last second (and Reinhart defy gravity! Damn he’s talented!)
Yes, Canada is indeed back on top of the hockey world, but lost in the celebration of Monday evening’s gold medal victory was the less than sportsmanlike actions of Russian defenseman Ziyat Paigin after the final whistle was blown. Paigin, clearly upset with the game’s final outcome, expressed his frustration by whipping his stick into the stands, hitting an unsuspecting fan in the process. The Russian defender can be spotted in the bottom left corner of the video. (click on the image below)
and then the anthem. At least they sound better at home.
Anyone up for a road trip to Helsinki next year?
