Draft Lottery 2024
The 1st round of the 2024 OFHL Draft is now set.
- T-Man (from Derko) – Moved up 12
- Haukster – no change
- GnR – up 4 spots
- EZ (from Rolphy) – up 8
- Cordy – up 4
- Vinny – down 5
- Orv – down 2
- Erty – down 2
- EZ – down 5
- Cordy (from Stifler) – up 1
- JBR – down 1
- Vinny (from T-Man) – down 9
- Fulty – down 5
- R&S – no change
Poor Vinny: Before the lottery, Vinny’s two picks sat at 1st and 3rd, but after the lottery, they dropped to 6th & 12th. Next year’s lottery won’t include anyone who was in the money.
Playoffs – Week 1
Week 1 of the OFHL Playoffs saw the top 4 teams in the regular season move on into round 2 of the ELITE EIGHT Pool. It’s now Sudde-Death as the loser of this round is eliminated. The winner of the A side gets a 4th rd pick.
B SIDE – Losres of the 1st round go into the B Side. It’s also Sudden-Death as the loser of this round is eliminated. The winner of the B Side gets a 5th rd pick
In the 9-11 Pool (which is being scrapped for next year, because, let’s face it, why should a team that wins less than 30% of their games be in a playoff for a chance for a 3rd rounder – yeah, we’re talking about you, EZ! What were we thinking?) Anyways… After 1 week:
- Erty leads with 42 pts
- Team ORV next with 36
- EZ brings up the rear with 33
Looking Back on “Strait from Rolphy”
Last week we forgot to look back on the Napkin’s predictions, so, in the tradition of Orv’s predictive “Napkin,” Rolphy submitted his own attempt at fore-telling the results for the OFHL season. Let’s see how he did:
He was actually bang on for three predictions: R&S at #1, Futy #7, and Team Orv at # 10. His biggest misses were T-Man (predicted for 4th – finished 12th,) Cordy (predicted 13th; finished 6th,) and Derko (predicted 6th; finished 2nd.) In all, not a bad first season. Good work, Swami!
OL’ TIME HOCKEY
Rangers and Devils threw back to the NHL’s Neadrathal past this week as a full line brawl erupted at the start of the game. Shameful! They could learn something from the OFHL brothers.

BUSCEMI FAMILY PORTRAIT
WEEK 21 – Trade Deadline & Vegas Shenanigans
Thanks to Fulty for doing the weekly updates while the Kmsh was chillin’ in the Caribbean.
The Kmsh also caught up with his old friend Matt Tkachuk at a Panthers game; they shared a good reminiscing about Chucky’s famous “turtling” against Kassian back in the day.
TRADE DEADLINE CAME AND WENT… AND BRUCE WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!
ANOTHER JERSEY RETIREMENT
Brent Krahn: “I remember a game in Detroit in the second round of the playoffs and I sat beside him on the bus after they lost 5-2. I’m sitting beside him and he was telling me jokes — and they were funny. They were really funny. And, you know, it’s a big loss. It’s playoffs and you got smoked by Detroit and I’m not even on the team really, I’m just here in case something happens. I mean, if Darryl sees me laughing, I’m in a lot of trouble. And this guy is killing me. I remember thinking to myself, ‘They just got pumped 5-2 and he wasn’t particularly great, and he’s just back to his regular self, telling jokes.’ And then the next game, I think he was First Star and made a million saves. The way it appeared to me, he could park a bad game. He could move on.”
Jamie McLennan: “It was evident, with a long-term injury to Roman Turek, I was going to need some help. I wasn’t a starter. I remember the day that Darryl traded for Miikka. Darryl said to me, ‘I’m bringing in a guy that I’m familiar with.’ He didn’t give me the speech that, ‘Hey, for the next seven years, this guy is going to be an absolute rock star.’ He just basically said, ‘We’re bringing somebody in to help you out.’ And that was it.” (At the time, San Jose was utilizing Miikka as their 3rd string goalie)

The 2021-22 season is over and thankfully it was a full season complete with OFHL playoffs for the first time in many years.
Congrats to Vinny on winning the OFHL playoffs! The last week of the playoffs wasn’t really close as Vinny steamrolled over T-Man 36-20. Vinny wins $120 while T-Man picks up $60 for runer-up. 3rd place went to R&S who beat Fulty 28-18. R&S pick up $40 for 3rd place.
4 FOR A 4th POOL: Team Orv won the 4th rd pick with a 2 week total of 61 points, beating Rolphy (55 pts), Derko (46 pts) and EZ (45.)
9-11 POOL – Congrats to JBR who finished with 104 points, betting Erty by just 2 points. Cordy finished with a pathetic 77 points. JBR gets an end of the 3rd round pick.

2022 Draft Lottery – We will do the draft lottery very soon so you can start planning for the slow draft in Sept. Here are the number of balls each team will have based on their finish. Each team gets the number of balls based on the order they finished – 105 balls in total.
- Stifler finished 14th, so 14 balls or a 13.3% chance of getting 1st overall
- GnR finished 13th but traded their 1st rd pick to Derko for Caufield MT. MoneyPuck approved.
- Haukster was 12th – 11.4% of picking 1st overall
- Cordy was 11th – so 11, plus 5 for Vinny’s 1st and 1 for Fulty’s 1st, gives a 16.1% shot
- JBR – 10th gives 9.5%
- Erty – 9th – 8.6%
- Team Orv – 8th – 7.6%
- Derko – 7th – so, 7 plus GnR’s 13 gives a 19% chance; best in the draft
- Rolphy – 6th – his 6 plus R&S’s 3 gives an 8.6% chance
- Vinny – 0% – traded his 1st to Cordy
- EZ – 4th – 3.8%
- R&S – 0% – traded his pick to Rolphy
- T-Man – 2nd – 1.9%
- Fulty – 0% – traded his 1st to Cordy
That’s it! Beauty year, boys. Keep social on WhatsApp & the board and we’ll do the draft lottery soon.
Enjoy the playoffs.
